With so many voices pulling for your attention in a time of crisis, it can be hard to tell whether or not you're feeling conviction or condemnation. In this post, we break down the difference between the two.
How The Enemy Uses Condemnation to Keep us Away From God
Don't associate any feelings of guilt, shame, or anything that pulled you away from God with
conviction. God convicts those who he loves and the reason why it's so easy to get confused between the two is that we're so used to hearing Satan beat us down and telling us things like "you're never going to be good enough, or you're never gonna be anything" that it seems strange to think that God would want to just forgive us just like that with no strings attached just because he loves us that much. It almost seems like a foreign idea but in a lot of the situations that you're going through in life when God is speaking to you He is never going to beat you down He's always going to lift you up and lift you back to Him.
Conviction is godly sorrow and just what leads you to repentance, it is what leads you back to Christ. When you're being condemned, it pulls you away from Christ. You're feeling so bad or so guilty for what you've done that you think that there's no forgiveness for you, but that's not true. Condemnation is a device that the devil tries to use to keep you in isolation so that you will not run to God.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1 NIV
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV
Remember this...
Condemnation
Guilt
Shame
Only shows you the problem
Leads you away from God
Conviction
Brings Godly Sorrow
